Similarly, online retailer Curtains Made Simple aims to offer their customers great value and low costs in addition to attractive designs and the latest fabric trends. The bespoke curtain and roman blind company has offered IKEA fabrics since its foundations back in 2009, and Curtains Made Simple predicts that the new fabrics added to its IKEA collection will be hugely popular in 2013.
Among the new IKEA additions include several bright and enchanting children’s fabrics. ANNAMOA BLUE presents a delightful woodland mountain design that was previously only available from Curtains Made Simple in green, whilst FJÄLLFLY features two different abstract designs influenced by nature. Particularly striking is TIDNY, which comprises of a black linear outline of animals, houses, plants, food, furniture and other adorable children’s motifs on a white background, offering children the possibility to personalise the fabric by colouring in the shapes – ideal as a tablecloth! Three of the new IKEA fabrics introduced by Curtains Made Simple feature striped patterns. BERIT presents a sophisticated wide and narrow stripe design in red, blue and cream colourways, whilst BJÖRNLOKA offers a simple broader stripe pattern in white and charcoal grey. The unusual fine striped LAPPLJUNG RANDIG uses yarn that is slightly raised from the fabric’s surface, giving it a delightful, handcrafted look. In addition to stripes, IKEA have also added the contemporary spot patterned HILDIS, a striking contemporary fabric in black and white.
Many of 13 new IKEA fabrics reflect the Swedish designer’s traditional Scandinavian influences, offering modern geometric and abstract patterns that create distinctive curtains, cushions, roman blinds, bean bags and other custom-made soft furnishings in the home. BJÖRNLOKA FIGUR features an orange, teal and white Y-shaped pattern with Blueprint-style etchings, which looks particularly eye-catching on a plain black background. The geometric TRÅDKLÖVER fabric creates a distinctive pattern out of semi-circles and light animal print, in bold red, black and pink colours.
Additionally, many of the IKEA range take their influence from nature, as demonstrated explicitly by MARGARETA and GURINE. MARGARETA features a circular chopped wood pattern in neutral tones of brown and beige, whilst GURINE features a bright and bold leaf print design in yellow and green. GULLAN BLOM also displays clear flora and fauna patterns, and can be a lively addition to any contemporary home thanks to their fresh colour palette and style, as designer Malin Åkerblom writes; "When I designed GULLAN fabric my idea was to create patterns that combine Swedish summer with tropical details… The patterns bubble and sparkle with life.” To coordinate, LENDA is a plain, slightly textured fabric available in beige, red and white.
All of the new IKEA fabrics are all 100% cotton, and are available to order from Curtains Made Simple as fabrics by the metre, as well as for creating made-to-measure curtains, roman blinds, cushions, bean bags and other interior furnishings.
